Failure to Give Details and Fail to Furnish

Failure to give details of the driver renders you liable to three points and a fine not exceeding £1000, though the government are proposing to increase this to six points later this year.  In cases where you are not the driver of the vehicle at the time of the alleged offence then you are under a legal obligation to notify the prosecuting authority of the identity of the driver.  In the event that you are unsure who was driving at the relevant time, you should request a copy of the photographic evidence in order to assist you in identifying the driver.
