On two roads in Swindon, where speeding is commonplace, a
pilot scheme is to be tested whereby speeding motorists will be
shamed into slowing down.
Sensors in the road will detect speeding vehicles and change the
next set of traffic lights to red, thereby holding up the
surrounding cars also. There will be no warning as to where
the sensors are located.
It is hoped that the scheme will encourage drivers to
concentrate on what is happening on the road ahead.
