Mr Freeman has warned female drivers that applying make-up
whilst at the wheel, even when the vehicle is stationary at lights,
could mean they are breaking the law:
"Applying make-up
behind the wheel means the motorist could be regarded as not being
in control of their vehicle. At the very least the
driver would receive a fixed penaly - three points and a £60
fine. If not and they go to court, the fine could be
significantly more and even lead to a discretionary
ban."
Applying make-up is not against the law but drivers can be
prosecuted for offences such as careless driving if it is
considered that their driving fell below the standard required.
Nick also added that drivers shouldn't allow front-seat
passengers to apply make-up in the front seat as by leaning forward
they may obstruct the wing mirror.
